SAUGUS - Gloria A. Mylyk, 77 of Saugus, formerly of Salem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, with her dear friend by her side.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Olga (Churmak) Mylyk. She was raised in Salem before moving with her family to Saugus. Gloria continued her education at UMass where she received her bachelor’s degree and later continued her studies at Radcliffe College.
Gloria, being a Virgo, was an office professional having careers as a bookkeeper, accountant, and financial administrator. She worked in the business offices of Massachusetts College of Art and Design and later the Banneker Charter School in Cambridge for many years. Her career was not just about numbers, but also about the friendships she would develop and nurture throughout her life. She had a love for taking photographs of the natural world and sharing them online.
An avid reader and lifelong learner. Gloria's thirst for knowledge was insatiable.
Her spirit soared in the great outdoors, finding solace in the beauty of nature through hikes, days at the beach, and gardening. She found great joy in all of mother nature's wonders around her. Swimming at Walden Pond was an annual ritual. Gloria's strong spiritual connection led her to India, where she found peace and inspiration. She enjoyed travelling abroad, particularly earlier in life. She was an active member of the Ukrainian community in Salem finding strength in her roots and the traditions that shaped her life.
Gloria was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. Her legacy will continue as a testament to her strength, independence, and the enduring impact she made on all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving Gloria are her circle of dear friends and colleagues. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Olga Mylyk and her beloved brother, Richard Mylyk.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside service which will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orne St., Salem on Thursday, April 25th, 2024 at 11 A.M.
