BEVERLY - Karen J. Kidd, a member of the Beverly community and a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024 at Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.
Born in Whitinsville, she was the daughter of the late William and Delia (DeOrsey) Kidd; both of Massachusetts. Karen was raised in Whitinsville and Danvers and called Beverly her home for the past 25 years, but for the majority of her life she called Salem home, where she nurtured her love for family and developed a passion for quilting. She graduated from Danvers High School in 1964 and earned an Associate’s Degree in Computers from North Shore Community College. She spent her career in banking at institutions around the North Shore; retiring from Salem Five Bank.
Karen had a true Irish sense of humor, inherited from her family. She was easy to laugh, quick to joke and liked to lovingly poke fun of those she loved. She had an innate ability to make others feel better, and never missed an opportunity to say hello to new mothers and their babies. She had a passion for creating and crafted many quilts and scarves, many of which she thoughtfully donated back to the community.
Karen was predeceased by both parents; then in 2006 by her first husband, James Clothey Jr of Whitefield, NH; and recently by her nephew, Timothy Yangas of Colorado. To mourn her loss, she leaves behind her only child Pamela Clothey Comeau and her husband Robert Comeau, Jr both of Jaffrey, NH; her beloved grandson, Jackson T. Comeau of Peabody and also her partner of 47 years, Richard Kobuszewski of Beverly. Karen also leaves behind two sisters, Sandi Yangas of Colorado and Sheila Higginbottom of Massachusetts and her husband David. Two brothers, William Kidd, Jr of Nevada and his wife Tracey and David Kidd of Texas and his wife, Jeanine. She leaves nephews Barnabas Yangas of Washington; Kevin Yangas of Washington, his wife Rachel and their three children; Brian Yangas of Oregon and his two children; Stephen Cantone of New Hampshire, his wife Justine and their two boys.
Karen will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her legacy of love and compassion will forever be cherished. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the melodies of the birds she so adored and the beauty of the quilts she lovingly created.
