SALEM - Mr. Alan A. Burton, 88 of Salem, devoted husband of Anne Marie (Piecewicz) Burton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born on May 15, 1931 in Manhattan, New York, Alan was the son of the late Louis and Sylvia Goldberg. Mr. Burton graduated from Los Angeles High School and continued his education at Los Angeles City College, receiving his associate degree in Arts. After graduation, he volunteered for the United States Army and was selected to serve in the 3rd United States Infantry Regiment, The Honor Guard for two years. Upon his discharge, he attended Columbia University, receiving his graduate degree in marketing and was selected by the prestigious Bloomingdale Training Program in 1964. Alan served as a Commodore of the Dolphin Yacht Club and was a member of the Marblehead Yacht Club. His passion was sailing and he made numerous friends there. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his loving wife Anne Marie Burton of Salem, Alan is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Siladi and her husband Wayne, his son, Robert W. Burton and his wife Sharon, his amazing granddaughters, Rebecca Siladi, Abigail Burton and Hannah Burton, his brother, Charles Burton and his partner Elaine Craine, special cousin, Arthur Goldberg and the entire Piecewicz family, Burton family and Allardice family. He was the brother of the late Joel Stephen Burton. The family would like to thank the team with Care Dimensions Hospice who were so kind and helpful during Alan's transition.
