Alfredo Garcia Obituary

SALEM –  Mr. Alfredo Garcia 49, of Salem, died December 7, 2020 at his home with his sons by his side, following a valiant battle with Colon Cancer.

Born in La Ceiba, Honduras, he was the son of Margarita Garcia Jaime. He was raised and educated in Honduras and immigrated to the United States in 1985 at the age of 13 settling with his family in New York City. In his early 20’s he moved to the Boston Area and began a career in the Airlines Industry. For many years he had been employed with American Eagle as a baggage handler. In 2001 he moved to Florida and was associated with Envoy Airlines, until the time of his illness. He returned to Salem to have his family by his side.

A loving father, Alfredo was well known and well liked. He had an outgoing and kind personality and made friends easily where ever he went. Immensely proud of his Garifuna Heritage, he enjoyed sharing his cultural intricacies with others. He traveled back to his home village often visiting family and friends. He had deep passion for music, especially he enjoyed Reggae, Punta and Early 80’s and 90’s Hip hop. He was a proud man, who embraced the Rasta culture and could often be found representing the Rasta colors wearing his famous hat and belt. He was an avid soccer player, fan and was a talented technologist, fixing and rebuilding all forms of technology. Above all else he was a loving father and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed as he is now In God’s Care.

Alfredo is survived by his two loving sons, Cedric Garcia and Alfred Garcia both of Salem, his longtime companion, Lesbi Thomas of Salem, his mother, Margarita Garcia Jaime of New York, his sisters, Sophia, Yoly, Betty, Francesca and Raquel Garcia, his brother, Vidal Garcia and many nieces and nephews.
