BEVERLY- Mrs. Alice L. (Cleaves) Dempsey, 89, of Beverly, beloved wife of Richard A. Dempsey, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Beverly Hospital with her loving husband by her side.

Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Daisy L. (Ambrose) Cleaves. She was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School. She was a lifelong resident of the City of Beverly.

Mrs. Dempsey had been employed as a Lamp Assembler for many years at G.T.E. Sylvania.

A long time dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, Salem, she enjoyed attending services with her husband. She was an avid bowler and for many years was a member of the Beverly morning bowling league and for the past few years was a member of the Wakefield night bowling league. Alice was a great ballroom dancer and loved to cut a rug with her favorite partner her husband. She was a very loving and kind woman who was dedicated to her family and will be greatly missed.

Alice is survived by her husband, Richard with whom she shared 52 years of marriage and was also the mother of the late Edward LaPlante.
