DANVERS – Mrs. Alyce M. (Shepard) Winfisky of Danvers passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the wife of the late “Tom” Winfisky with whom she shared 20 years of marriage.
Born in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Alice (Paiva) Shepard of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. She was raised and educated in Bridgewater and was a graduate of Bridgewater Academy. Alyce went on to graduate from Mass Memorial Hospital in Boston.
During World War II, Alyce was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corp. She was also employed part time as a staff nurse at the former Hunt Hospital in Danvers. For 23 years she was employed as a Registered Nurse for the Danvers School Department where she was known for her kind caring manner and her dedication to the many students, she tended to over the years.
Alyce was a member of the Danvers Historical Society and enjoyed being the curator of Tapley Memorial Hall for several years. She served on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Nursing Association in Boston and was a member of the Mass Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni Association.
She leaves behind her daughter, Leslie of Brewster, MA; her son, Jonathan and his wife Lesley of Charlemont, MA; her 2 great grandsons, Jeffrey and Noah of NY and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her son, A. Paul Winfisky and her granddaughter, Faith.
