Miss Amelia Nestor, 100, of Salem, died peacefully, after a brief illness February 11, 2015, seventeen days shy of her 101st birthday. She has always been lovingly kept in the hearts of her extended family.

Born in Salem she was the daughter of the late Wasyl and Julia (Dran) Nestor, who were one of the founding families of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Salem, MA.

She was born and raised in Salem, a graduate of Salem High School and a lifelong resident of the city.

Amelia worked for the Federal Government in a variety of roles during her career, retiring in 1977 from the Social Security Office in Lynn.

Amelia was an active member and communicant of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church where she enjoyed the music and sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of the Russian Aid Society of Salem and the Ward I Senior Citizen Club.

Amelia enjoyed traveling with her sisters throughout the United States and Europe. Happy occasions included many activities with her extended family. Her presence in these get-togethers will be deeply missed.

Surviving her are five nieces; Claudia Hennessey, Dorothy Nestor, Suzanne Melin, Mary Hooks, and Joan Roses, several cousins, many grandnephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was the youngest sister of the late Daria Wladyka, Michael Nestor, Paul Nestor, Nicholas Nestor, Sister Mary Jean Nestor and Anna Nestor.

Arrangements: Her Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Salem on Tuesday at 11am. Relatives and friends invited. A visitation will be held in the church prior to the service from 10 to 11am. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Amelia's memory to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 64 Forrester St., Salem, MA 01970.
