Ann Brown Obituary

DANVERS – Mrs. Ann Elizabeth (Mitchell) Brown, 73 of Danvers, beloved wife of Norman F. Brown, Jr. passed away peacefully on October 8, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with her family by her side.

Born in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Ruth E. (Hall) Mitchell. Raised and educated in Danvers, Ann was a graduate of Danvers High School class of 1965 and continued her education at Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing graduating in 1968.

Ann was devoted to her career as a Registered Nurse first starting with Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit. She later relocated locally to the former Hunt Hospital where she committed her specialties to the ER and ICU. Ann spent the remaining 23 years of her professional career with the former Cedar Glen Nursing Home in Danvers. Her intelligence and skill as a nurse blended perfectly with her everyday life as she was often referenced by her family as the matriarch and family nurse who would guide anyone through any medical advice.

A loving and devoted wife, mother and nanny, Ann was happiest when with her family. She took great pride in creating memories and connections with her relatives, whether it was preparing for gatherings or linking with members through genealogy. She loved visiting Margaretville, Nova Scotia, a little slice of heaven that connected her to her parents. She was generous in all aspects of her life from picking out the perfect gift for a family member to opening her home for friends to visit and stay. Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband Norman with whom she shared 51 years of marriage, Ann is survived by her daughter, Melissa Forest and her husband Christopher of Danvers, her son, Eric Brown and his wife Kristen of Wilmington, her 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Elysia, Catherine, Annabeth, Brighid and Christopher, her sister, Nancy Lyons of Haverhill and several nieces, nephews and many dear cousins. Ann was the sister of the late Murray Mitchell.
