PEABODY – Mrs. Ann M. (Illingworth) Raney 87, of Peabody beloved wife of Robert R. Raney Sr., Died peacefully, January 2, 2021.

Born in Lynn, August 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Martha (McManus) and Frederick Illingworth. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School and was employed in the accounting Department at Arthur D. Little Company of Cambridge before starting and raising her family. After her family had grown, Ann again joined the work force at Sears in Peabody and then at the Peabody Times in Peabody until the time of her husband retirement.

Ann was very active in Boy Scouting in Peabody with Pack 88. She enjoyed family vacations to Lake Winnipesaukee in the Summer, Vermont in the fall and winter vacations in the White Mountains. In her later years, she and bob enjoyed travelling often to Canada and the Tugboat Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Nordic Village in the White Mountains of NH, Disney World and frequent trips and cruises to Elbow Beach, Bermuda.

She was an active member of the Yankee Division Veteran’s Association, holding numerous officer positions at both the local and national levels and working tirelessly on their conventions which took them to Missouri, Pennsylvania, Maine, NH, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Also, she travelled with the YDVA groups to Bermuda and Hawaii.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Robert R. Raney Sr., with whom she shared over 67 years of marriage, her son, Michael Raney and his wife Nancy (Hopping) of Derry, NH, her daughter, Maryann “Mae” Wolff of Peabody, her grandson, Matthew Wolff and his wife Jessica of Methuen, granddaughters, Meaghan Wolff of Peabody and Kaightie Chambers and her husband Dale of Alamogordo, NM, great grandchildren, Autumn and Austin Wolff of Peabody, Zachary and Benjamin Wolff of Mthuen and Navlin Chambers of Alamogordo, NM, her sister, Gail Pierson of Peabody, her sister-in-law, Marilyn Shaw of Lynn and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her son, Robert R. Raney Jr, her twin brother, Charles Illingworth, her brother, John Illingworth, her sisters, Ruth Larkin and Marion Sykes and her son-in-law, Donald Wolff.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Thursday, Jan. 7th, at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
