SALEM – Mrs. Ann M. “Nancy” (Griffin) O’Donnell 92, of Salem, beloved wife of the late William O’Donnell, passed away peacefully, August 23rd, 2021 in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her daughter by her side.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (McMan) Griffin. She was raised and educated in Salem, having attended and graduated from the former St. James Grammar School and High School.
Mrs. O’Donnell had been employed for many years with the City of Salem School Department until the time of her retirement.
A long-time resident of the City of Salem, Nancy was always the life of the party where ever she went. She lit up every room with her radiant smile. Funny, playful and humorous, she was quick to laugh and grins were abundant when in her presence. An avid reader, Nancy was happiest in the company of family and friends. From her “girls” lunches to shopping adventures, time spent with Nancy was always memorable. She was the definition of a social butterfly. A strikingly beautiful woman, Nancy was a true fashion maven, always elegantly dressed, no matter the occasion.
A loyal friend, Nancy was a connector of people. Her friends were lifelong and she was quick to call with a word of congratulations or support. She was steadfast in her love of her family, fiercely faithful to her friends and a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. She was truly one in a million and will be forever missed. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always looked forward to the vacation visits with her especially the trips to Salem Willows, Rockport and an all-time family favorite Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. There are many happy memories and funny stories of the Grandma Nancy and Aunt Jane trips.
Nancy is survived by her devoted daughter, Catherine M. Follmer of Cincinnati, Ohio, her grandchildren, Victoria Walker and her husband, Rod of Cincinnati, OH, Mike Follmer and his wife, Donna of Kentucky, her great grandchildren, Cameron and Kieran Walker, Morgan Follmer, and Katie Mertz and her husband, Brian, her great, great granddaughter, Izzy and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
