Arthur Pierce Obituary

SALEM- Mr. Arthur W. Pierce, 75, of Salem, beloved husband of Gloria J. (Cote) Pierce, died Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Dewis) Pierce. He was raised and educated in Marblehead and was a graduate of Fryeburg Academy in Maine.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Following his active service, he was a member of the Naval Reserves.

Professionally Mr. Pierce was Lobsterman and the proprietor and Captain of the Lobster boat, “Eliza Bee” out of Marblehead. He loved his days on the water and was a well-known builder of Lobster traps. He was a tireless worker and enjoyed his days on the sea.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Arthur loved his family, in his eyes they could do no wrong and he supported them in all of their endeavors. He had a passion for animals and had many feline companions over the years. He enjoyed his annual trips to his home in Nova Scotia and hosting his large extended family and friends. His dedication and devotion to his family was his hallmark and he will be deeply missed.

 Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gloria J. (Cote) Pierce of Salem, his daughter, Elizabeth Pierce and her companion Jason Pike of Salem, his son, Salem Police Officer, Edward Pierce and his wife Lauren of Beverly, his two grandchildren, Molly and Jake and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alyce Lees.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals - Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Friday, Oct. 2nd from 3 to 5 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Arthur’s memory to the North East Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
