Barbara Favazza Obituary

ESSEX -Mrs. Barbara “Barb” Christine (Moore) Favazza, 69, of Essex, passed away on Saturday, September 18th, 2021 in her daughter’s home, surrounded by love, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was loving wife of the late Jeff Favazza, who passed away suddenly nine months ago.

Barb was born in Boston and she was the daughter of the late Angus and Dorothy (Boyd) Moore. She was raised and educated in Gloucester and was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1970.

Barb was an incredibly hard worker and most recently worked at Synventive Molding Solutions in Peabody, where she retired. She also worked at Cyrk in Gloucester for many years. In addition to her strong work ethic and dedication, she will be remembered fondly by friends for her warmth, friendliness, and gentle nature.

Barbara’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, family member and friend, always concerned for those she loved. She was an incredibly strong person who had the most genuine, giving nature. She did not always realize her strength, but those around her certainly did. Her quiet humbleness was a defining characteristic. A true matriarch, Barbara would always share memories and family photos with all who were connected to her. The pride and joy of her life were her four grandchildren with whom she absolutely loved and adored to the highest degree possible. Being a grandmother meant the world to her. She considered this her greatest treasure, and her grandchildren will always carry that in their hearts.

Barb’s life was forever changed when she suddenly lost the love of her life, Jeff. Barb and Jeff were together since they were 15 years old, married at 19, and will now celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Heaven, together on September 23, 2021. All who loved Barb, will know that she is now with Jeff drinking morning coffee, playing cards, going for walks and sitting on the boulevard in Gloucester. Barb, will be forever missed by all.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, JoEllen Falk and her husband Scott of Essex, and her son, Justin Favazza and his wife Nicole Cassell of Salem, her four grand children, Brandon, Liam, Cole and Lainie all of Essex, a sister Dorothy Williams of Beverly, sister-in-law, Fran Moore, special aunts, Mary O’Brien and Fran Boyd, and several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many special, dear friends who were family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Mary Morris, brother-in-law Billy, and a brother Joseph Moore, and her in-laws Michael and Nona Favazza.
