Barbara Fiske Obituary

PEABODY  – Ms. Barbara F. (Desjardins) Fiske, 79 of Beverly, formerly of Peabody, passed away on Friday May 1, 2020 at Care One Essex Park in Beverly. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Doris (Hooper) Desjardins. She was a graduate of Beverly High School Class of 1958.

Growing up Barbara enjoyed reading books and poetry, she loved spending time on her grandmother’s farm in Maine. Her love for music began when she joined the First Baptist Church of Beverly’s youth choir as a teenager. While raising her 3 daughters, Barbara traced her family’s genealogy, enjoyed bowling and developed an interest in Astrology. She was a Brownie Leader for many years and an environmental activist writing letters to U.S. Senators and the President regarding causes she was passionate about. She reentered the workforce as an administrative assistant before working for Naumkeag Trust Bank in Salem. Shortly after, she left to pursue her love for Astrology, Mediumship and Spiritual Healing, launching a successful business that spanned over 3 decades.

Barbara was a gifted Astrologer and Medium with clientele across the globe. Advisor to many, her clients looked to her for guidance through life’s happenings. Her business thrived and she taught classes in Astrology, Mediumship and Spiritual Healing. Aside from her business, she was an avid gardener who loved spending time outside in her perennial and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed playing the piano, writing music and poetry and dancing with friends. She was happiest when spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was most proud to attend school and sporting events, music concerts, graduations, and birthdays and always available to babysit.

She is survived by her daughters Jane Fiske of Danvers, Debbi Richard (John) of Slingerlands NY, and Dianna Charest of Peabody; her grandchildren Andrew Richard, Emily Flegel (Bobby), Tyler Richard, Matthieu and Ryan Charest; her great-granddaughters Parker and Braydie Flegel; her sister Sandra Stetson (Ron) of Danvers, Charles Desjardins of Florida and the late Nancy Keller of Florida, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and her cat Sonny. Her spirit will always be felt by all that knew her.
