BOSTON – Miss Barbara Marie Gagnon, 75, of Boston, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at her home.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Elie J. and Claire (Costello) Gagnon. She was raised and educated in the Castle Hill Section of Salem and attended the former Ste. Anne’s Grammar School. She continued her education graduating from the former St. James High School in Salem.
Miss Gagnon began her professional career as an IBM operator for the former United Shoe Machine Corporation at its Boston office. She matriculated to Lexington Insurance, a division of AIG, where she worked in the payroll department for many years. More recently, she had been employed with the Intercontinental Hotel in Boston in the business office until the time of her retirement.
A long-time resident of Beacon Hill in Boston, Barbara enjoyed spending her time with her nieces and nephews. As a young woman, she was quite active and an avid cross-country skier; spending many weekends at Killington Mountain in Vermont where she made many friends and memories. She always relished in family gatherings and will be deeply missed.
Barbara is survived by her siblings, Patricia Gagnon and her husband William Lewis of Norton and Kenneth Gagnon and his wife Paula of Laconia, NH, her nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Gagnon Phalnikar, Katherine Gagnon, Eban Lewis, Kyle Gagnon and Kasey Gagnon, her great niece and nephew, Eleanor Phalnikar and Landon Mason. She was the sister of the late Robert Gagnon of Summit, NJ and the late Richard Gagnon of Salem.
