PEABODY- Mrs. Barbara (Hogan) Manning 84, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, Beloved wife of John Deneen Manning, passed away peacefully Friday, December 9th, 2016 at Continuing Care at Brooksby Village. Born in Augusta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Rose (McCarthy) Hogan. She was raised and educated in Augusta, Georgia and was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School. She continued her education at Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Missouri. She married the love of her life John Manning February 9, 1952. A loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Barbara dedicated her life to her family. She resided in many places throughout the world. Some of the significant places of residence were Tokyo, Japan, la Celle St.Cloud, France, Larchmont and Scarsdale, New York, Augusta and Savannah, Georgia, Wilton and Stratford, Connecticut and currently Brooksby Village, Peabody, Massachusetts. She took great pride and joy in being able to provide a warm, loving and caring home for her family in all of her home towns. She was a compassionate, loving and generous woman. Barbara was active in local and state politics and she was a member of the Republican Women's Club of Wilton, CT. She was an avid tennis player and a voracious reader. Barbara was an accomplished cook and she loved to entertain family and friends. She supported and helped with the care of her grandchildren and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. She was a selfless wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. In addition to her loving husband of 64 years, Barbara is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann McCormick and her husband Richard of Pacific Grove, CA and Diane Abe and her husband David of Lexington, MA, her sons, Dr. John D. Manning and his wife Dorian of Trumbull, CT and David Manning of Hyde Park, VT, her grandchildren, Alison Weinstein, Suzanne Janczewski, Michael, Jack, Daniel and William Manning, Lisa and Greg McCormick and Katherine and Grace Abe, her great grandchildren, Athena and Leo, her brother William Joseph Hogan Jr. and his wife Martyl of Decatur, GA, several nieces and nephews and her dear friends Allaine Abe, Louan Dolan and Evelyn Finneran.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass which will be held in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, #300 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, Friday, Dec. 16th at 9 A.M.. Private burial in the National Cemetery, Bourne. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Barbara's memory to the North Shore Elder Services, 300 Rosewood Dr., Danvers, MA 01923 or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
