Carolyn "Catsy" L. (Lewis) Fowle

NAHANT - Carolyn "Catsy" Fowle, of Nahant, Massachusetts, passed away on September 10, 2023 at the age of 99 years and 11months.

She was the daughter of Sylvia and James H. Lewis and granddaughter of former Massachusetts Attorney General, Hosea M Knowlton. Catsy was a beloved neighbor and friend to many in Nahant for 70 years. She was a wonderful woman who prioritized her relationships with neighbors and family, always making time for them.

Catsy had a zest for life and a love for athletics. She enjoyed swimming, diving, tennis, walking, and dancing. She also had a green thumb and took pleasure in gardening, growing both vegetables and flowers, often sharing her bountiful harvest with others. Catsy had a deep affection for animals, enjoyed music (mostly classical and opera) and was an active member of the Nahant Village Church and loved being a choir member! Her faith was an important part of her life.

One more of Catsy’s priorities was blood donations to The American Red Cross. Her generous giving amounted to 33 gallons of much needed blood over the years.

In the 1950s, Catsy worked as a display window designer at Filene's Department Store in downtown Boston. However, it was in Nahant where she truly made her mark as the seamstress everyone knew and relied upon.

Catsy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kind spirit, warm heart, and generous nature will be remembered and cherished forever.

Catsy is survived by her daughters, Cally Grean of Manchester, NH, and Sally Zagnoli of Nahant, MA. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Rachel Nicolai, David Grean, Roli Zagnoli, and Abi Zagnoli, as well as her great-granddaughter, Ellie Nicolai. Catsy was preceded in death by her husband, Eliot R. Fowle, and her sister, Sally Dee.
