Salem - Mr. Charles H. Reardon Sr., 74, died Thursday January 12, 2012 at Salem Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was a devoted husband of Anne (Moscaritolo) Reardon.

Born in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Charles H and Mary Susan (Dolan) Reardon, He was raised in Dorchester then Salem, a graduate of Salem High School. He worked as a tour bus driver for Michaud Bus Lines for several years. A master carpenter by trade, he worked on several projects on the North Shore.

An honorably discharged veteran, Charles served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War as a sub mariner.

A long time active resident of the City of Salem, Charles was selected as a member of the Board of Directors of the City of Salem, Commission on Disabilities, where he was currently serving as Vice Chairman. He was committed to making the City of Salem a better place for people to work and live with disabilities. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Salem and was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Veragua Council #76 in Salem. Always a smile on his face and a deep concern for others, Charlie will be deeply missed by all.

He was knowledgeable of the history of Salem, and if engaged he would talk forever as all who knew him would attest to. He loved to cook and made a mean clam chowder. He was an avid sports fan, a scout leader and a coach for youth football and rec baseball.

In addition to his loving wife of fifty one years, Charles is survived by his daughters, Donna Goldberg and Michael Kennedy of Wakefield, N.H. and Carol Maynard and her husband Glen of Salem, his son Chuck Reardon and Elaine Harrison of Beverly. A devoted grandfather to Savahna Reardon, Harley and Jordan Maynard and Candace and Dane Mullin, and great grampy to Emma. He is survived by his brother David Reardon and his wife Sandy of Salem and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Sue Ellen (Reardon) Puska.

Arrangements: His funeral will be held from The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. Followed by his funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd, Salem at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Monday from 4 to 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, expressions for sympathy may be made in Charlie's memory to Children's Hospital of Boston 300 Longwood Ave Boston, Mass.
