Charlotte Pattison Mann Obituary

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA - Charlotte Pattison Mann, age 64, passed away on November 26th after a brave ten-month fight against pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by friends and family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA.

Charlotte was born on December 16th, 1957 to the late James and Charlotte Pattison of Framingham, Massachusetts. She grew up in Framingham and graduated from Framingham South High School. Horseback riding, fishing, trips to visit family in Michigan, and taking care of her family’s two golden retrievers were joyful memories of Charlotte’s childhood. Charlotte later attended Colby Sawyer College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she earned a degree in Animal Science. UMass Amherst is where Charlotte met her husband, Lane Mann, who remained her partner and best friend for 42 years of marriage.

Charlotte dedicated her life to raising her two daughters, Charlotte and Chelsea, while living in New Jersey, Virginia, New York, and Massachusetts. She also found fulfillment from participating with friends in her investment club, swim classes at the Beverly YMCA, volunteering in her daughter’s classroom, spending time at her family’s second home in Nova Scotia Canada, traveling the world, reading an endless list of books, cultivating her beautiful gardens, and spending time with her cherished family and friends.

She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, generous spirit, sense of adventure, and devotion to her loved ones. Charlotte is survived by her loving husband, Lane Mann of Manchester, Massachusetts; their two daughters Charlotte Maguire with her husband Brett Maguire of Saugus, Massachusetts; and Chelsea Burke with her husband Matthew Burke of Waltham, Massachusetts and their first child arriving in February 2023.

Those who followed Charlotte’s cancer treatment journey may have been impressed, as her family certainly was, by her stoic and determined intention to show up on time and get it done.

She taught her family numerous life lessons these past months on facing an adverse situation with determination and a bit of humor … true gifts her family will forever be grateful for.

On her last day of an 11 night stay at Mass General Hospital the floor nurses presented Charlotte with a card revealing the gender and name of her grandchild due in February. Charlotte’s eyes radiated pure joy and pleasure from the news and absolute pride. Such happiness had not been seen all year.

When Charlotte arrived at hospice, Lane asked her to share the secret and they both wept. It was such wonderful news and turns out to have been the last conversation they shared before Charlotte faded away over her last days on earth.
