Christel (Johansen) Chambers

PEABODY - Mrs. Christel Chambers, 99, of Peabody, formerly of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Thomas Chambers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31st, 2023 with her loving son by her side.

Born in Niebüll, Germany she was the daughter of the late Anton and Paulinea (Petersen) Johansen. She was raised and educated in Germany where she graduated High School. Christel immigrated to the United States in 1951 eventually settling Danvers.

Mrs. Chambers had been employed as an Electronic Technician for many years, retiring from EG&G in 1991. During her career she had also been associated with the Raytheon, and Honeywell Companies.

A loving wife and mother, Christel exemplified what it was to be the matriarch and took great pride in taking care of her family. She selflessly gave of herself every day, and was always there for support and to offer guidance, always in her calm and gentle way. Her young cheerful voice would always bring a smile to your face. Christel was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and especially enjoyed the festive Christmas season. She will be forever remembered for her devotion to her family and deeply missed by all who loved her.

Surviving Christel is her son, Edward Kuczynski of Peabody. She was also the sister of the late Maria Anne Reisenberg of Germany.
