PEABODY - Mr. Clayton Godfrey Small Jr., 84 of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Beverly and Lynn, beloved husband of 60 years of the late Gloria R. (Mitchell) Small who passed away in 2014, died Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his family. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Clayton G. Sr. and Veronica (O'Connor) Small. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He continued his education at Lowell State College and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology through the General Electric Apprentice Program. Mr. Small began a long relationship with the General Electric Company through the GE Apprentice program and would become a professional Draftsman working for GE for many years. More recently he had been employed with G & L Welding as a Sales Engineer and Draftsman until the time of his retirement. Clayton enjoyed spending his time gardening and fishing. He was active in civic and social circles in the City of Beverly while raising his family. He volunteered his time as a coach of Beverly Youth Hockey, was a former President of the Friends of Beverly Hockey and a former President of the Immanuel Church Couples Club of Beverly. Above all else his family was always first in his life and heart. He will be deeply missed. Clayton is survived by children, Clayton Small III and his wife Kathleen of Newbury, Pamela Jackson and her husband Daniel of Moultonborough, N.H. and Bradley Small and Dr. Lisa Hammond of Boston, his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Christopher Jackson, Geoffrey and Olivia Small and Anastasia, Bradley II and Connor Small, his sister Noreen Allen and her husband Jack of Conway, N.H. and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Matthew Small.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Monday, July 2nd at 11 A.M. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Clayton's memory to Beverly Bootstraps, 35 Park St., Beverly, MA 01915.
