ANDOVER – Mr. David Joseph Hennessey 80, of Andover & Manchester-by-the-Sea, beloved husband of 53 years of Frances (Crowley) Hennessey, died Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family. 

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late David V. and Katherine (Dougherty) Hennessey. After being raised and educated in Salem at Saint James Catholic School, David attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Boys High School in Lynn. He continued his education and worked himself through Suffolk University in Boston earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. 

Mr. Hennessey became a Certified Public Accountant and spent many years in the private sector in a variety of positions, before retirement. 

What was most important to him were his family and his faith center in a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and love for Mary. 

David is survived by his beloved wife, Frances (Crowley) Hennessey of Andover, his children, David Hennessey and his wife, Deborah of Salisbury, Elizabeth Doyle and her husband, Francis of West Roxbury, the Reverend Daniel Hennessey, of Topsfield and Middleton, and Catherine Reese and her husband, Tyler of Rochester, NH, his grandchildren, Joseph, Peter, Anna, and Maria Reese, Kassandra Caruso and her husband, Kenneth Jr, his great grandchildren, Kenneth Caruso III and Zachary Caruso and numerous nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by sisters, Marie Landers, Anne Carr, Rita Bohanon, and his aunt, Rena Lord, and many friends and family. 

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be held in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem, Saturday, Sept. 4th at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours prior to the Mass at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Saturday, Sept 4th from 9 to 10:30 A.M.
