BOSTON- Mr. David F. Pauling, 79, of Boston, formerly of Salem, husband of the late Michael Campise, died on May 9th, 2022, at Accent Care in Milton.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Leon and Helen (Flynn) Pauling. He was raised and educated in Salem and graduated as Salutatorian of his High School Class, 1960. He continued his education at Harvard University earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Romance Languages.
With a love for languages, David embarked on a long and successful career as a Professor at Tufts University, where he taught French for over 40 years. During his tenure he coordinated Tufts Summer program at its European Center in Talloires and Annecy, France for 25 years, a trip he looked forward to every year.
David had a lifelong interest in the Arts and acted in several summer productions at the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly. He enjoyed the symphony, opera, and many trips to Europe especially Paris. David was a dedicated educator, a devoted brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by his family and the many lives he impacted over the years.
Surviving David is his brother, Edward L. Pauling and his wife, Margaret, Rexford, NY, his niece, Joanne Smith and her husband, Gary of Milford, nephew, Tim Pauling and his wife, Lisa of Walnut Creek, CA, 2 grandnieces and 3 grandnephews.
ARRANGENTS: His funeral Mass will be held at Ste. Anne’s Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals- Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM, prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. Relatives are friends invited.
