DANVERS – Mr. Dennis J. Norris, 79, of Danvers, beloved husband of Marie (Ruggeri) Norris of Danvers, died Thursday, January 6th, 2022 at Salem Hospital. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Alyce (Dylengowski) Norris.
Dennis was the beloved husband of Marie (Ruggeri) Norris of 56 years. He was the loving father of Kathleen, Kimberly and the late Joseph Norris all of Danvers. Dennis is survived by his siblings, Mariellen Norris and Brian Norris and his wife, Betsy. Also survived by many cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sandra Ruggeri, Paul and Pat Ruggeri of RI., and Steve Swallow and Dr. Joanne R. Ruggeri, Ret. Lt. Col, U.S.A.F. of AK. Dennis also leaves two nephews and a niece and many friends especially, John Lenihan, his weekly Thursday visitor. He was predeceased by his sibling, Linda Ann Norris and in-laws, Frank and Mary Ruggeri, brother-in-law, John Ruggeri and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and Socrates Vrattos.
Raised and educated in Salem, Dennis was a proud and active member of the Salem High School Class of 1960. He furthered his education at Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology and Northeastern University, becoming a Structural Engineer. Dennis took great pride in his professional career of 36 years with the electric companies, Mass Electric and National Grid.
Dennis enlisted in the United States Army Reserves - National Guard to serve his country receiving an honorable discharge for his 6 years of service.
A resident of the Town of Danvers since 1967, Dennis was a founding member of the Danvers Youth Soccer Program, a prior member of the Knights of Columbus of Salem and an active parishioner of St. Richard Parish. Dennis also enjoyed many rounds of golf as a member at the Wenham Country Club.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to a visiting hour which will be held at St. Richard Parish, 90 Forest St., Danvers, Thursday, January 13th from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. immediately followed by his Funeral Mass to begin at 10 A.M. Face Coverings are to be worn at all events. His Funeral Mass will also be live streamed.
