Diane T. (Tewksbury) Cowie

MARBLEHEAD - Diane T. (Tewksbury) Cowie, 90, of Marblehead, formerly of Medway, passed away on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family.  She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-two years, David W. Cowie, Sr.

Diane is survived by a son, David W. Cowie, Jr. and his wife Ela of Texas; a daughter, Dawna Deiana and her husband Robert of Marblehead, with whom she lived; five grandchildren, Emma, Meghan, and Katherine Deiana, and Consuela and Dominik Cowie; and great-grandchildren Rhyleigh and Gunner Andrews.  Her sister, Lynne Savel of Framingham, predeceased her.  Diane was born in Dallas, Texas, daughter of the late Almond and Doris Wilkerson (Breen) Tewksbury. 

Her family later moved to Newton, where she graduated high school.  After graduation, Diane spent several years working at a bank in Boston where she met her husband, David. She and David would eventually move their family to Medway, where they resided for thirty years. An active member of the Community Church, she was in her church choir singing with her husband every Sunday. She later moved to Middleton, and in 2017 moved to Marblehead to live with Dawna, Robert and her precious granddaughters.

Diane was an active member of Maple Street Church in Danvers and continued to be active at the Middleton Senior Center.  Always wanting to be busy and spend time with friends, Diane loved to go to dinner, see a movie, attend the theater or a concert and travel the world.  Always creative, Diane loved to draw, color and arrange flowers.

Her greatest joy though was being with family, and she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, especially the years spent living at her daughter’s home.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM, Friday, June 2nd at 12:30 P.M. Relatives and friends invited.  Visiting hours prior to the service on Fri. June 2nd from 10:30 A.M. to 12 P.M. Donations in lieu of flowers should go to “Arms around Sophia” C/O NGB 91 Pleasant Street.  Marblehead, MA 01945.
