Donald Cyr Obituary

BEVERLY- Mr. Donald G. Cyr, 90, of Beverly, beloved husband of Patricia (Gerrard) Cyr, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2020 at Beverly Hospital.

Born in Beverly he was the son of the late Gilbert and Mary (Wisniewska) Cyr. He was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, Donald proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Cyr had been employed as a machinist for Reed Brothers, ADT, Northshore Music Theater and later had been a custodian for the City of Beverly until the time of his retirement.

A lifelong resident of the City of Beverly, Gilly was a simple, hardworking gentleman. He believed in the basics of life and family was central to his core values. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and was truly proud of his daughters. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in his life.  He loved to cook, listen to the Red Sox on his portable radio, Jazz music and the saxophone as well as collecting $2 bills.  He will be fondly remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for family and deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Surviving Don, in addition to his loving wife Pat with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, are his daughters; Pamela Kausel of Beverly, Diane Cyr Monroe and her husband Ted of Groveland, Mary-ann Janjigian and her husband Paul of Dedham and Amy Cyr of Hamilton, his three grandchildren; Sarah McCurley and her husband Greer of Lincoln, NB, Melissa Harrington and her husband Marty of Beverly and Mason Maternowski of Dedham, his four great-grandchildren; Cailey Harrington, Kevin Harrington, Olivia McCurley and Thomas McCurley and his brother, Robert Cyr of Danvers.

ARRANGEMENT: Services were held privately.  A celebration of Donald’s life will be celebrated at a date and time to be announced. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers.  Expressions of sympathy may be made in Donald’s memory to Beverly Boot Straps, 35 Park St., Beverly, MA 01915 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
