Dorothy Murphy Obituary

SALEM- Mrs. Dorothy “Sue” Murphy, 83, beloved wife of the late Donald James Murphy with whom she shared 35 years of marriage, sadly passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 following a brief battle with the Corona Virus.

Born and raised in Peabody, Sue was the daughter of the late Dorothy and Newton Eckert. She attended Peabody schools and was a graduate of Marion Court College.

Sue had a long career as the owner of S & M Answering Services for over 20 years, where her kind nature and her willingness to help others made the perfect fit. Through her business Dorothy made many friends; friendships she fostered for many years.  Following her retirement, Sue enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and traveling to Hawaii, Saratoga and Ireland with her husband, Don.

A longtime resident of the City of Salem, Sue was devoted to her faith and family, she was communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a wonderful mother. She shared a special bond with both her sons and will be deeply missed by them. Sue was known for her love of animals and children, her sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor.

Surviving Sue are her beloved sons, Rob Conners and his wife Janet Lamy of Ipswich and Newton Murphy and his wife Melissa (Gibney) Murphy of Salem, and several nieces and nephews whom she adored, known as “Auntie Sue” she leaves with their many best kept secrets. She was also the sister of the late Lorraine Cook, Claire Acciavatti and June Reilly.
