PEABODY - Mrs. Dorothy L. (Morris) Waite, 95, a longtime resident of Topsfield and Vero Beach, Florida, beloved wife of the late David P. Waite, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19th, 2023, at Brooksby Village in Peabody, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Meadville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Iva (Smith) Morris. She was raised and educated in Erie, Pennsylvania. Dorothy continued her education and received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Villa Maria College and her Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston University.
Dorothy embarked on a rewarding career as a Social Worker, working for many years in the public school system. She was caring, patient, kind and worked with many students over the years to make a difference in their lives. Their wellbeing was her reward. Later, Dorothy was part of clinical assessment teams at Salem Hospital until the time of her full retirement.
A loving wife and mother, family was where her heart was. Family time was often spent sailing along the coast of Maine, or visiting her extended family in Pennsylvania. She was most proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. A true lady, gracious and refined, Dorothy also enjoyed spending time with her friends and playing bridge, a game she took quite seriously. Dorothy will be remembered for her grace and independence, her love for family and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Surviving Dorothy is her son, Geoffrey Waite and his wife, Holly of Topsfield, her grandchildren, Corinne Waite and Benjamin Waite, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Phillip Waite and her siblings, Betty Walker and Dr. John Morris.
