Douglas Maxim Obituary

ROWLEY – Mr. Douglas W. Maxim, 81, passed away on Friday, April 21st, 2023. He was born in Danvers, and was soon after adopted into the Bates family. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Wilkins) Maxim.

Mr. Maxim was raised and educated in Danvers, graduating from Danvers High School. Soon after he met the love of his life, Dorothy, whom he married in 1966. Together they went on to live a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and travel. Douglas was employed with the Boston Gas Company for many years.

Doug enjoyed the outdoors and everything it has to offer. He loved camping and being out on the water, especially fishing, kayaking, boating, and bird watching at Plum Island. He and Dorothy would often take trips to Saint Martin and camping in New Hampshire and Maine. And he loved fishing and spending time with his best friend, David Jacques, dinners and fun with his sister-in-law Nancy (Wilkins) Kotkowski, and spending time with his dear friends, Vicky Hincman and “Flounder”.

Douglas is survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy (Wilkins) Kotkowski, brother-in-law, William Wilkins, and was “Uncle Doug” to Jack and his wife, Janet Wilkins, Tracey and her husband, Alan Greene, Katherine and her husband, Jack Nessen, and Allison Wilkins. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Maxim.
