PEABODY – Eileen Elizabeth Clancy, a resident of Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA, formerly of Framingham and Boston, passed away peacefully on Friday morning at Kaplan House in Danvers. Born in Beverly, MA, she was the beloved daughter of Patrick J. and Marian (Ruddy) Clancy, who were long-time residents of Beverly, born in Ireland. Eileen attended St. Mary's Elementary and High School, graduating in 1955. She was an alumna of both Salem State (1959) and Boston University, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and her Master's Degree in Counseling.
Eileen was a warm, loving, deeply committed woman who drew people to her as evidenced by her treasured friendships with many, dating back to her student days at St. Mary's and Salem State. She was a member of the St. Mary's Drum and Bugle Corp during her youth. She lived and taught in Germany, Connecticut, California, and Massachusetts. She retired after 25 years of teaching elementary and middle school in Natick, MA. Eileen loved to travel around the world, including throughout Europe, taking adventurous trips to Japan, India, Katmandu, Russia and all across the United States. She enjoyed politics, the theatre, musicals, opera and jazz music, fine dining, and celebrating at Irish pubs. She loved to entertain family and friends and was a great hostess. Eileen was a gentle and kind woman of generous spirit with a delightful sense of humor. She was known for her ability to form bonds with family and friends of all ages. She gave of her time and talents including volunteering at election centers, running flu clinics, and supporting charitable causes including women's rights, educational scholarships, homelessness, Disabled Veterans, The USO, Cancer, Heart Disease, MS and Alzheimer's.
In addition to her parents, Eileen is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Clancy Nichols. She is survived by her brother, John C. (Jack) Clancy, two nieces, Siobhan Clancy (Michael) O'Donnell and Tara Clancy (Kevin) Hindson, a great nephew and many loving cousins across the U.S., England and Ireland. The family appreciates the loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Salem Mass. General Hospital and the Kaplan House.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eileen's funeral Mass which will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly on Saturday, February 19th at 12 (Noon). Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Beverly. Visiting hours prior to the Mass at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS from 9:30 – 11:30 A.M.
