Danvers- Mrs. Eleanor Ann Sweeney, 85 of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Daniel A. Sweeney, Jr. passed away Friday September 23, 2016 at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Sally (MacLean) Quinn. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, Ann proudly served her country as a member of the United States Navy.
Mrs. Sweeney had been employed as a Section Manager for Ann & Hope Department Store at the Liberty Tree Mall for many years.
A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister, family was Ann's hallmark. She cherished the time she was able to share in their accomplishments and milestones and took every opportunity to be a part of their lives. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet and knit.
She is survived by her two sons, three daughters, one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law, Michael Sweeney and his wife Dawn of Florida, Mark Sweeney of Peabody, Danell Spinale and her late husband Charles "Chuck" of Florida, Ellen Kozik of Salem, Janice Trombetto and her husband Joe of Danvers and Ann-Marie Sweeney of Danvers; sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of Patricia Dooley of Hingham, Jackie Matula and her husband Stanley of Salem. She was the mother of the late Richard J. Sweeney.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Thursday, September 29th at 10:30 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers, Thursday at 11A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours prior to the funeral from 9 to 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Ann's memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
