PEABODY – Mrs. Elisabeth R. “Libby” (Swett) Fifield, 87, of Peabody, daughter of the late J. Freeman and Margaret (Weeks) Swett of Berwyn, PA, died on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Libby was raised in Berwyn, Pennsylvania and educated at the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA, and the Bouvé-Boston School of Physical Education at Tufts University.

An athlete, coach, and long-time umpire of girls’ and women’s sports, Libby and her late husband, E. Dalton Richmond lived in Wayland where she was director of Wayland Town House Pool for 15 years before moving to Gloucester. Later married to Richard T. Fifield (deceased), they divided their time between Gloucester, where she was a former member of the Bass Rocks Golf Club and the Gloucester Garden Club, and Englewood, Florida.

Predeceased by her brother, William Swett and his wife, Norma, she is survived by her sister, Louise Ransom and her husband, David, of Vermont; daughter, Katherine Richmond; son, Douglas Richmond and his wife, Angela; step-daughter, Jayne Knott, and her husband, Andrew; step-son, Douglas Fifield and his wife, Linda; ten grandchildren, a great granddaughter, nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Libby’s Memorial Service will be privately held. An in-person Celebration of Life will be held in the future when it is considered safe to socially gather. Interment in Oakdale Cemetery, Wellfleet, Massachusetts will also be held in the future.
