LYNN – Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Lovett) DiScipio, 80, of Lynn, wife of the late Benjamin James DiScipio Sr., died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday September 10, 2021.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Cunningham) Lovett. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School, class of 1958. She continued her education at Salem State College earning her Bachelor’s Degree as a member of the Class of 1962. Later in life she continued her education earning her Master’s Degree from Boston University.
Betty had been employed as a Teacher in the Lynn Public School System for over 25 years, until the time of her retirement.
A loving mother and nana, Betty was truly devoted to her family. She was ultimately proud of all of their accomplishments and supported them in challenging and successful times. An astute gardener, Betty enjoyed tending to her flowers, was an avid reader and had a passion for music and completing puzzles. She walked daily and enjoyed chatting with her neighbors and friends along the way. She loved to spend time along the ocean, particularly in Ogunquit, ME and was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren, who were truly her pride and joy. She was a loyal friend and always looked forward to her “club” gatherings with great enthusiasm. A strong, independent woman, Betty was a true matriarch, who took great pride in her profession, laughed easily and loved deeply. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
Betty is survived by her children, Dr. Anthony DiScipio and his wife, Jean, Benjamin DiScipio Jr and his wife, Kristy, Elisa McLaughlin, Michael DiScipio and his partner, Jeff Doherty and Maria DiScipio, her grandchildren, Katie, Shannon, Haley, Jared, Kaleigh, Rori, Valerie and Bella, her sisters, Patricia Muise and her husband, Joseph and Kathleen Buonopane and her husband, Steve and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was the sister of the late Judy Lessard and mother-in-law of the late Shawn McDuff.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations – Salem, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday, Sept. 15th at 10 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St., Lynn at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, Sept. 14th from 4 to 7 P.M. Masks must be worn at all services.
