DANVERS-Mrs. Evelyn H. (Tompkins) Dinsmore, 96 of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Charles Dinsmore, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Montreal, Canada she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Eva (Geary) Tompkins. She attended Montreal schools (Rosemount, and William Dawson High), and furthered her education at O’Sullivan Business College. She worked at Grace Dart Hospital, Patterson Steamships, and Canadian Galvanized Steel Company before her marriage and moving to Danvers in 1958. She married her husband in Montreal after meeting him while on vacation in Ocean Park, Maine.
Evelyn was an active member of Maple Street Congregational Church for over 50 years and at one time served as bookkeeper and church school secretary and served on the memorial gifts and Christian Education committee. Evelyn liked to keep busy, she enjoyed daily crossword puzzles, watching TV quiz programs, scrabble and knitting. She was creative and enjoyed rubberstamping, making cards for her friends, family, and the Sunday school children. She enjoyed her walks with her friend Karen Spears. An avid traveler she took many trips throughout the United States, Bermuda, California, The Grand Canyon, New Hampshire, and Maine and often traveled to Canada to visit family and friends, Niagara Falls as well as England.
Surviving Evelyn are her daughters, Janet Dinsmore, her caregiver, with whom she resided, and Laura Raimondi of Florida, her grandson, Peter Raimondi his wife Mirna, granddaughter Holly Raimondi, 3 great-grandchildren, Layla, Brayden and Parker. She is also survived by her nephew and godson, Gary Tompkins of Montreal, nephew Alan Tompkins and his wife Joyce of Ontario and great-nephews, Jason and Ryan of Ontario and her home health aide team, Kim Maguire, Cheryl Mogavero, and Pat Landry. She was also the sister of the late Leonard Tompkins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 12 (Noon). Visitation prior to the service from 11 to 12 P.M. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers.
