SALEM- Mr. Felix F. Malolepszy, 98, has left us to join his wife of 66 years, Betty, who predeceased him. He passed away peacefully of natural causes at The Chelsea Soldiers’ Home.
A life-long resident of Salem, Felix was the son of Maximilian & Mariana Malolepszy.
Felix was a man of quick wit and a joy to his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Polka dancer, traveler & bingo player. He also made beautiful stained glass lamps. Afternoon passersby would witness his friendliness as he sat on the Church Street bench with his friends and neighbors.
Felix was a proud veteran of World War II. He served in the Coast Guard on the LST 23 in Europe, the Pacific & Asia from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
His career included a mechanic at the AC Lawrence Leather Factory and a painter at the Salem School Department. He also served as the President of the AFSCME Union.
He is survived by his son, Peter Malo and his wife, Deborah; his grandchildren, Jade Malo and her fiancé, Adam Tripi, and Adam Malo and his significant other, Tanya Grassetti. He was stepfather to the late Paul Slattery; and brother to his late sisters: Helen, Sophie, Regina, Irene & Wanda.
And a few final life quotes from Felix: “Take it slow” and “I just go with the flow”.
