LYNN- Mr. Francis "Frank" Denehy 85 of Lynn, retired City of Lynn, Police Officer, husband of the late Mary (Yannetty) Denehy, died Saturday January 21, 2012 at Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly, with his daughters by his side, following a long illness. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Daniel and Johanna (Walsh) Denehy. An honorably discharged veteran, Frank served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II, aboard the USS Conyngham in the South Pacific.
Mr. Denehy served for many years as a member of the City of Lynn Police Department. Frank served as the Lynn Harbor master and for many years was a member of the Volunteer Yacht Club in Lynn. Frank is survived by his daughters, Jane Blake and her husband Richard and Fran King and her husband Henry, his grandchildren, Gabriel Finocchietti and his wife Elisha, Christine MacNevin and her husband Ryan, Emily Blake, Capt. William King, U.S. Army, James Blake and Lisa Finocchietti, his great granddaughter, Keira Leigh MacNevin, his sister, Mary "Lorraine" Dockerty and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral services were held privately at the National Cemetery in Bourne. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Frank's memory to the Angel Flight N.E. Lawrence Municipal Airport, 492 Sutton St., North Andover, MA 01845.
