PEABODY – Mr. Frank Harvey Ames Jr. 95, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Acton, beloved husband of Marjorie (Ramage) Ames, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Doris (McTeigue) Ames. He was raised and educated in New Orleans and was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering (N.J.I.T) earning his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in 1950. He also attended the University of Florida.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the Untied States Army.
Mr. Ames had been employed as a Systems Engineer at General Electric from 1950 to 1970 with assignments in Schenectady, NY, Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, Johnson City, NY, Daytona Beach, FL, Bethesda, MD and Valley Forge, PA. He also worked for Honeywell Information Systems in Waltham and most recently at Raytheon in Bedford until the time of his retirement.
A long-time resident of Acton and Brooksby Village in Peabody, Frank was a member of the Acton Congregational Church and the American Legion.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie (Ramage) Ames of Peabody, his daughter, Nancy Anne Ames of Acton, his sons, Frank Harvey Ames III of Tanner, West Virginia and David Ramage Ames of Newton, his two grandchildren, his four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Robin Ames and the brother of the late Dorothy Frances Javorsky, Alice Elizabeth Bimbi, Mary Eloise Little, Marjorie M. Murphy and Barbara Ames.
