SALEM - Genowefa (Dobrzanska) Gasior, 93 formerly of Salem, Somerville, Chelsea, and Dorchester passed away on Saturday May 22, 2021 at the Wingate Chestnut Hill surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Poland she was the daughter of the late Eljasz Dobrzanski and late Stephania (Kabalewicz) Dobrzanski Kalicka. She was raised and educated in Poland where she worked hard every day to help provide for her family as a young woman, Genowefa endured much to immigrate to the states in which she accomplished this goal in the early 1970’s. She continued to use her strength, determination and sound work ethic to help provide for her family who she followed here to the States which includes her beloved son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren who she was extremely proud of.
Genowefa held several jobs over the years, some even simultaneously. She retired from the Environmental Service Department for Fidelity Investments after many years of service.
She was a loving and doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a longtime resident of the City of Salem, an active communicant of St. John the Baptist Polish Church where she was involved in many of their activities, and a member of Stay Well Adult Day Care in Salem where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. She often enjoyed hosting get-togethers with friends, dancing and travelling. She will be fondly remembered for her love of family, friends and her strength and determination. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many dear friends.
Genowefa was the mother of the late Richard Gasior. Surviving Genowefa are her daughter in-law Elizabeth Gasior, Derry, New Hampshire, grandchildren; Anna Gasior of Norwood, Beata Gasior-Shay of Derry, New Hampshire and Venessa Gasior of Wrentham, and her great-grandchildren; Sophia and Richard “Ricky” Shay.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held in O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq. (At Salem Common) Salem on Wednesday May 26th from 9 to 11A.M. Followed by her funeral Mass in John Paul II, Shrine of Divine Mercy, 28 St. Peter St., Salem at 11:30 A.M.
