Geraldine Lockard Obituary

SALEM – Mrs. Geraldine A. (Sherber) Lockard, 84 of Salem, beloved wife of the late Eugene R. Lockard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2020 in the comfort of her daughter’s home, with her family by her side.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Twomey) Sherber. Raised and educated in Lynn, she was a graduate of Lynn English High School.

A nurturing and caring woman, Geraldine was a stay at home Mom and enjoyed her time as a Brownie & Girl Scout Leader and also Cub Scout Den Leader. In her earlier years she worked as a dietician at the Salem Hospital and also as an Aide at the Endicott Elementary School.

She was selfless, living to help others and dedicated over 20 years of her life serving the homeless in the soup kitchen at the former Crombie Street Shelter (now Lifebridge North Shore). Deeply devoted to her faith, Geraldine was a longtime and active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Salem. Her leadership and character were greatly respected by her family and dear friends.

She loved little paradises, whether it was local at Winter Island or at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. She was fortunate to be able to spend time with her family, visiting them from New Hampshire to Florida where she was able to take trips and make many memories. She loved walking the Salem Common with her husband Gene. She enjoyed taking pictures; capturing the moment in time. She enjoyed the simple things of life: going out to eat, visiting the North Shore Music Theater or just staying home to watch her soap operas. Above all else, she loved her family and cherished the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Dinah Lee Lockard and her fiancé Damon Kozlovskis of Boynton Beach, FL, her sons, Brian Lockard and his wife Julie of Danville, NH, Darren Lockard and Christine Hughes of Salem and Andrew Lockard and his wife Doreen of Hamilton, her grandchildren, Michael, Dustin, Alex, Shayne, Kristen, Dylan, Emily, Matthew and Maximilian and great-grandchildren, Michael Jr., Elias and Hannah. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Giannattasio, Peggy Estes and Helen Mayo, many nieces and nephews and her best friend until the end, Tiggs, her daughter’s cat who stayed by her side through her illness. She was the mother of the late Robert Lockard and sister to the late Nancy Monteith, Marilyn Russell, Paul Sherber and Joseph Sherber.
