BEVERLY - Geraldine Strozier, age 80 of Beverly and Alexandria, VA, passed away June 25, 2020, at Beverly Hospital.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Francis Russell and Una Russell, nee Cox. She spent her formative years in Manchester, UK, before moving to New York City as a young student. She graduated from NYU with a bachelor's degree in history, and subsequently received a PhD in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago. She went on to a career in journalism, including writing a weekly column for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Later, she moved to the Washington, DC, area to take a position as press secretary for Congressman Cecil Heftel of Hawaii. Later in life she started a successful visa and travel business, where she worked with her daughter, Jessica Gibson. She was an avid gardener, cook, reader, traveller, intellectual, and a devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her daughter, Jessica Gibson, of Beverly, she is survived by her son, Adam Strozier, of Hamilton, MA, her grandchildren, Aidan, Sophie, Aeneas, and Elijah, and by her brother and sister, Mark and Clare Russell. She was predeceased by her brother David Russell, of Ridgewood, NJ.
