LYNN – Mr. Harry Robert Chakoutis, 74, of Lynn and Salem, beloved husband of Ann Marie (Reid) Chakoutis, of which he shared 56 years of marriage with, died peacefully, Monday, July 20th, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George and Dorothy (Whittier) Chakoutis. He was raised and educated in Lynn and attended Lynn Classical High School.
Mr. Chakoutis was the founder, proprietor and operator of the former Mr. Radiator. With locations throughout the North Shore, and talented with the inner workings of a vehicle, he could fix almost any issue, specializing in radiators, heater cords and gas tanks. His shops in Lynn, on the Lynnway, and Salem were iconic local businesses for many years. Harry was a car enthusiast and had many hot rods throughout his life.
In retirement, Harry had been associated with Costco and enjoyed the many friends and and co-workers he worked alongside.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Harry was devoted to his family. He enjoyed spending his time traveling, especially to the White Mountains and Cape Cod. A longtime resident of Lynn and Salem, he was devoted to his faith and a member of Sacred Hearts Parish in Lynn and the Knights of Columbus of Lynn. Above all else, family always came first and he will be deeply missed.
Harry is survived by his wife, Ann Marie (Reid) Chakoutis, his daughter, Danielle Chakoutis and her late companion Scott King of Salem, his grandchildren, Scott Chakoutis Jr and his companion, Danielle Benyue, Ricky Chakoutis and his companion, Amanda Abreu, Brittney Janard and her companion Nolan Markham, his great grandchildren, Tye, Caylee, Damian and April,his daughter in law Debbie Voyer, his sister Elaine Hill and her husband, Courtney of Boxford, his brother, Bobby Chakoutis and his wife, Shirley of Salem, NH and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Scott Michael Chakoutis. Harry also leaves behind his furry poodle companion, Eiffel Tower. The family also wants to send a sincere thank you to Maria Soler, Harry’s CNA of four years who is wonderful and dear to the family.
