PEABODY – Mrs. Helen (Moses) DesChene 96, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Topsfield, beloved wife of the late Edward A. DesChene, died peacefully, Saturday, September 25th, 2021.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late A. Willard and Maude (Hawkes) Moses. She was raised and educated in Saugus and was a graduate of Saugus High School. She continued her education graduating from La Salle School of Interior Design.

Mrs. DesChene studied voice under Mrs. Beryl Nye Taylor, sang at Jordan Hall, Boston and with many church choirs and organizations over the years. She was a 56-year member of Saugus Tontoquon Chapter 100, Order of Eastern Star and soloist of Tontoquon and other chapters for many years.

Helen was involved in Girl Scouting and Cub Scouts in Saugus, enjoyed art, music, gardening and writing. She published two books of Poetry and worked for Interior Designers in Lynnfield and Topsfield for many years.

She was a member of the Topsfield Writing Group, former active member of the Congregational Church of Topsfield and the Women’s Fellowship, a longtime member of the Topsfield Garden Club, Topsfield Historical Society and a member of the First Church Boxford and its Benevolent Society. She was more recently a founding member of the Linebrook Congregational Church of Ipswich. A resident of Brooksby Village for over 10 years, Helen made many friends and enjoyed all of the activities offered.

Helen was a lover of flowers, birds, animals and all living things, especially cocker spaniels and pugs and had a deep passion for good music throughout her life. All of these things were dear to her heart.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Jill R. Marquis of Hampton, N.H., her son, Dennis DesChene of Bow, N.H., her 5 grandchildren, Douglas, Steven, Christine, Keith and Blake, her 6 great grandchildren and her special friend, George Heald of Brooksby Village, Peabody.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to Helen’s funeral service which will be held graveside in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Haverhill Road, Topsfield on Friday, October 15th at 1 P.M. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers.
