SALEM- Mrs. Irene (Buczko) Shea 93, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Richard J. Shea, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Salem she was the daughter of the late Ignacy and Veronica (Brzozowska) Buczko. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.
Irene made her career working as a hairdresser in Boston on Newbury Street for several years and later had been employed as an assembler at GTE Sylvania. She also had a very green thumb, spending her spare time gardening as a member of the Danvers Garden Club. With an outgoing nature and ever-present smile, Irene was beloved by her community and could often be found handing out homemade cookies to the neighborhood kids. She was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Danvers and Salem Council on Aging. Irene also enjoyed socializing with her friends at the Essex Condominium where she resided. She brought a warm sense of humor to everything she did in life, and could always put a smile on anyone’s face. Irene’s greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving Irene are her children; Lisa Shea and her husband, William Grondin of Danvers, Lynne Shea of Danvers, Elizabeth Dabrieo and her husband Edward of Sanford, ME, Nellie Ricciardi of Saugus and Richard Shea and his wife Bette of AZ, her 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and her sister, Alfrieda Hunt and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Honorable Thaddeus Buczko, Albert Buczko, Bernard Buczko, Sophie Theriault and Joan Hourihan.
ARRANGEMENTS-Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held in O’Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11 A.M. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M.
