PEABODY - Jacqueline “Jackie” L. (Bouley) Fontana, 89, of Peabody, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Sunday April 19, 2020 after a courageous battle with COVID-19. Her family is forever grateful to her care-givers at The Brudnick Center for Living and Salem Hospital for the tenderness and compassion they provided. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years Raymond E. Fontana and their oldest son Farrel R. Fontana.
A loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Jackie is survived by her daughter Lynne Bailey and her husband Timothy of Carson City, NV; her son Forrest Fontana and his wife Linda of Plymouth, MA. Jacqueline was devoted to her 5 grandchildren: Kimberly, Kaylee, Kyle, Sara and Amanda. She cherished the opportunity to share in their many milestones and accomplishments. Jackie is survived by her loving sisters, Jeanne DeFrancesco of Topsfield and Carolyn Gamache of Peabody. She was preceded in death by her brother Alfred Bouley and her sister Constance “Connie” Thompson. She also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born in Salem to the late Albert and Blanche (Dion) Bouley, Jackie attended Saltonstall and St. Mary's grammar schools and was a graduate of Salem High School. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for Beneficial Finance and later years with Burt Curley & Sons.
Jackie was outgoing with a welcoming personality, always willing to greet someone with her bright eyes and a hug. She will be fondly remembered for her gentle and warm smile. She enjoyed dancing or playing cards with Ray, spending time with her friends sipping coffee and chatting, and reading. Her family was blessed to have her unconditional love, never-ending support, and encouragement to dream. Jackie, though soft-spoken about her Catholic faith, preferred to demonstrate that in her actions and support of their related charities.
She will be lovingly and forever missed by her family and friends.
