SALEM – Mr. James Edward “Eddie” Kidney, 79, of Danvers, formerly of Salem, husband of the late Judith L. (O’Keefe – Lubas) Kidney, died unexpectedly, September 2nd, 2021 at his home.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late James B. Jr. and Catherine R. (White) Kidney. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers.
Mr. Kidney had been employed for 40 years with his families roofing and sheet metal company J.B. Kidney & Company of Salem, until the time of his retirement in 1998. He was a revered and skilled coppersmith and much of his handiwork can be seen on historic homes, churches and community landmarks throughout the North Shore.
A long-time resident of the City of Salem, Eddie lived in the Collins Cove section for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veragua Council # 76, the Ward II Social Club and the former Falcon Club, all of Salem. An avid Nascar and Dale Earnhardt fan, Eddie loved old Chevy’s and over the years restored multiple 1955-1956 & 1957 Chevy’s. He was a devoted New England Patriots fan and in later years constructed models of his favorite Chevy cars and trucks. Above all else family was always first in his life. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Eddie is survived by his children, Deborah Mikulski and her husband, Stephen of Danvers, Michael Kidney and his wife, Lori of Danvers, James Kidney and his Fiancé, Tara Bettencourt of Salem and Maureen Fisher and her husband, Troy of Beverly, his grandchildren, Andrew Mikulski and his wife, Anastasia, Kathleen Mikulski, Matthew Kidney and Kaitlyn Kidney, Emily Fialho and her husband, the Reverend Eric Fialho and Troy “TJ: Fisher Jr., his great granddaughter, Catarina Fialho, his brother, Robert Kidney and his wife, Arlene of Beverly, several nieces and nephews and his former wife and mother of his children, Dorothy Tracy. He was the brother of the late Mary O’Leary and Kevin Kidney.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Thursday, Sept. 16th at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours immediately preceding the service from 10 to 11 A.M. Masks must be worn at all services.
