DANVERS – Mrs. Janett Croy (Stone) Lavender, 83, of Danvers, beloved wife of Raymond G. Lavender Jr., died Friday, June 12, 2020 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Hudson Stone and Madeline (Mears) (Stone) Granton. She was raised and educated in Haverhill and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1956. She was a valued member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and its worthy Advisor. She continued her education at Newton Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing, earning her Registered Nursing Degree in 1959.
Mrs. Lavender had been employed as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years at Salem Hospital. After retiring from Salem Hospital, she assisted many local doctors and medical agencies as a health care consultant. She was known for her ardent care of her patients.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Janett was the true matriarch of her family. She was generously supportive of her children and especially her grandchildren in all of their endeavors. She created a wonderful example of a strong, loving mother for her family. Always there in any time of need, Janett was steadfast in her convictions and her love of her family.
A resident of the town of Danvers since 1967, Janett was an active member of the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers. She was an avid reader who loved outdoor activities and especially relished time spent camping at Lake Ossipee. Above all else her love of family, her devotion to her faith and her commitment to her husband will be her everlasting hall marks.
Janett is survived by her devoted husband Raymond G. Lavender Jr of Danvers, her daughters, Joanne E. Lavender of Salem and Janis L. Tobin and her husband Patrick of Danvers, her son Dean R. Lavender and his wife Beth of Wrentham, her 3 beloved grandchildren, Derek Lavender, Carly Lavender, Holly Tobin and several nieces and nephews. She was the loving sister of the late Donna (Kimball) Hurst and Shirley Hayes and also was the loving grandmother of the late Janelle Lavender Tobin.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to Janett’s funeral service which will be held graveside in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers on Thursday, June 18th at 12:30 P.M. All other services are private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers.
