Janice Bishop Obituary

BOXFORD – Ms. Janice Ellen (Meserve) Bishop, 74, of Boxford, died Monday, June 29, 2020 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie (Adrienne) Meserve. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Our Lady of Nazareth School in Wakefield. She continued her education graduating from the Essex Agricultural School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Salem State College and her Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

 Ms. Bishop had a long and distinguished and respected career in the health care field. She was the Chief Nursing Officer at Atlantic Care, Union Hospital in Lynn for many years. She was also the Chief Nursing Officer at Beverly Hospital, Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Tewksbury State Hospital. She was renowned for her passionate ability to help others and lead the nursing divisions of many of the area’s top health care institutions. She was well liked and respected by colleagues, physicians and management throughout the North East for her professional acumen.

 A loving mother and grandmother, Janice enjoyed playing golf and bridge, she enjoyed trips to the beach and Cape Cod. Above all else family was always at the center of her life. She had many friends who loved and respected her and she will be deeply missed.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Leanne B. Cove and her husband, Sean Lilly of Boxford and Dawn MacDonald and her husband, Jack of Virginia Beach, VA, her grandchildren, Joe Cove, Hannah and Josh Lilly, Brianna, Jack and Brooke MacDonald, her sister, Karen Custeau and her husband, Steve and her brother, Ken Meserve and his wife, Julie all of Haverhill and several nieces, nephews and many dear close friends. She was pre-deceased by her grandson Brendan Lilly.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Friday, July 3rd from 3 to 6 P.M. Funeral services are private. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
