PEABODY- Jeanne Brownell Neale, 94, of Peabody, MA, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA.
Born in Providence, R.I. in 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ernest P Cordin and Marion G Cordin. Jeanne is a graduate of Central High School and Rhode Island School of Design, both in Providence. In her youth, she was a worthy advisor for Rainbow Girls and a member of CAR (Children of the American Revolution). After graduating college, Jeanne worked as a Graphic Designer in Providence and later as a Sales Associate at Jordan Marsh in Peabody, MA.
She married Chester Brownell in 1949 and moved to Topsfield, MA where they raised 5 children until his death in 1980. After many years she reconnected with Gordon Neale whom she grew up with in Providence. They married in 1994 and lived in Jamestown, R.I..
Jeanne was a joyous soul with a big heart who loved painting, travel, seafood, the ocean and spending time with her large extended family. Since 2004, she lived at Brooksby Village in Peabody where she was active in the church, traveled with friends and enjoyed her retirement. Those who knew her, remember her wonderful smile and cheery personality.
Jeanne is survived by her son, Richard Brownell and his wife Marie of Derry, NH; her son, Thomas Brownell and his wife Beth of Stuart, FL; her daughter, Jeannette Sullivan and her husband Paul of Newburyport, MA; her son-in-law, Stephen Girard of Groveland, MA; her stepdaughter, Diana Wilcox and her husband Jack; her stepson, George Neale and his wife Martha; and her stepson, Philip Neale, all of Jamestown, RI. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Chester Brownell, her husband, Gordon Neale, her daughter, Beth Girard and her son, Steven Brownell.
