BEVERLY- Jeffrey "Jeff" Hall, from Beverly, MA died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Salem Hospital. Jeffrey was born on May 4, 1927 in Birmingham, England, to the late Alfred Thomas and Sarah (Beddows) Hall. Jeffrey's youth began in Birmingham, England, where he took great pride in being a boy scout and acolyte in the Episcopal church. As a dedicated boy scout, Jeff was awarded the high honor of the scout gilt cross, a medal awarded for gallant behavior in circumstances of great risk. At the young age of fourteen, Jeffrey dove from the Stratford-on-Avon Canal bridge to rescue a drowning boy in the English ocean channel. Jeffrey was also honored by the British Parliament, "The kind of spirit shown by [Jeffrey] has made this nation what it is...the city as a whole feels that as long as we have youngsters of his caliber, we shall get through, whatever difficulties lie before us". At the age of nineteen, Jeffrey continued to prove his bravery as he served in the British Army and was a veteran of World War II. In 1946, he met the love of his life, Lorna (Sturgess) Hall, with whom he shared 67 beautiful years of marriage. In 1957, Jeff and Lorna immigrated to the United States with their two young children where they re-established a fine life for their family.

Jeffrey worked as foreman for Webster Industries of Salem up until his retirement.

He loved the ocean and his garden. On a sunny day you would find him tending to his flowers and vegetables, or on a nearby golf course. He and his family enjoyed many happy summers spent at his summer home in Conomo Point, Essex, where he spent endless hours renovating. Jeffrey will also be remembered for his love of music, and was often heard singing or whistling a tune. Jeffrey was a life-long member of St. Peter's Episcopal church of Beverly and was truly dedicated to his undoubted faith in God. Though a man of few words, Jeffrey could also be seen faithfully sitting with his wife or sitting in conversation with his family, over a cup of tea.

Jeffrey leaves behind the love of his life, Lorna F.P. Hall, in addition to his four children, including Jon Hall and his wife, Kathy, of Beverly, MA., Garry Hall of Beverly, MA., Allison Munroe and her husband, Jeff, of Beverly, MA and Clarke Hall, and his wife, Tammy, of Beverly, MA; 9 grandchildren, Chris, Andrew, Jonathan, Amy, Erin, Jay, Alyssa, Carolyn, and Craig; and 8 great-grandchildren. Jeffrey often reflected on his loving family residing in England. He had two brothers, the late Alfred and Wilfred Hall, and his sister, the late Doris Pritchard. Jeffrey will always be remembered for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to his family.
