TOPSFIELD – Miss Joan Victoria Ford 90, of Topsfield Passed peacefully Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at Beverly Hospital.
Born in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late William Ford and Katherine (Murray) Ford-Griffin. She was raised and educated in Lee and was a graduate of Lee High School. She continued her education at Smith College earning her Bachelor’s Degree.
Talented musically, Joan, as a young woman, travelled with the U.S.O. during World War II and entertained the troops. She was a fantastic dancer and piano player and recalled with joy, her days bringing smiles to the solders protecting our freedoms.
Miss Ford had been employed as an educator in the Topsfield Public Schools for many years. She taught 3rd and 6th grade and retired after 20 years of teaching. She truly enjoyed her profession and took great pride in being able to foster the youth of Topsfield.
A longtime resident of Topsfield, Joan enjoyed travelling and did so extensively. She visited almost every continent and enjoyed sharing stories of her travels with her friends. She was a devoted animal lover and had many feline companions over the years. She was even awarded best Cat at the annually competition in Boston. An accolade she was very proud of.
She made many connections over the years and had many deep lifelong friendships. She will be missed by many dear friends and all of her former students.
