Joanna L'Italien Obituary

PEABODY - Mrs. Joanna C. (Attridge) L’Italien, 65 of Peabody, former longtime Salem resident, beloved wife of Thomas L’Italien, passed away on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Montclair, New Jersey she was the daughter of the late William and Shirley (Davis) Attridge. Raised and educated in Salem she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Salem High School.

Joanna’s kind and compassionate nature served her well as unit secretary for Salem Hospital where she served for over 30 years. She took great pride in a job well done and a strong work ethic.

Joanna found joy in the simple things, with a passion for nurturing those around her. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, family always came first for Joanna. She took great pride in supporting all her children’s endeavors and held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them. Her home was a gathering place for the neighborhood kids, where she would welcomed them with open arms.

An avid reader and movie aficionado, Joanna found solace in the magic of old films and musicals. Her love for music was unparalleled, listening to many different genres over the years. Joanna will be forever remembered for her legacy of love for family and her kindness and generosity to others and deeply missed by her loving family, many friends and all the lives she touched along the way.

Surviving Joanna, in addition to her husband Thomas with whom she shared 43 years of marriage, are her children, Melissa Maragioglio and her partner, Edward Skeffington of Lynn, Beth Cheny and her husband, Timothy of South Carolina, Dana L’Italien and his wife, Nicole DeStefano of Salem, and James L’Italien of Peabody, her grandchildren, Jonathan Bik, Hailey Maragioglio, Anthony Cheny, Andrianna L’Italien, Dominic Maragioglio, Myah Cheny, Maximus L’Italien, Lilyana Skeffington and Mackenzie Skeffington, her sibling, James Attridge, Paula Hillard, Elizabeth Baillargeon and Julie Bonaituo, her mother-in-law, Eileen L’Italien, her beloved canine companion Nacho, and many nieces and nephews.
